Treat Yo’ Self

A public service announcement for a Monday:

Somewhere in this week, with its meetings, bills, laundry, commuting, dish-washing, bed-making, hair-washing, shoe-trying, flossing, et cetera, find sometime to treat yo’ self. Fine leather goods and massages work, but so too does a yoga class, baking something from scratch, or finding the perfect fall novel.

  • Cadi: Treating myself something that I don’t do until I get to the point of snapping (and I’m oh-so-close this week). Why is it that we need permission to do this for ourselves? We work and run around like crazy and feel like we’re never caught up but rarely if ever do we stop and say ‘you know what? Tea break, 30 minutes of uninterruped me-ness.’

Thanks for the nudge. I see yoga and a massage in my short-term future. I was just complaining to the Hubster last night that I was headed to the spa! Have a great week!3 years ago

  • Amy C: Oh, girl, I got SUCH a smile on my face the minute I saw the title of your post.
Ben in the Batman costume was one of the best moments of television I have seen in a very, very long time.

Anyway, I made chocolate pudding for myself today! That definitely is a treat!3 years ago

  • Katie @ cakes, tea and dreams: Love it! And I totally agree. My treats today were lunch with a friend and dark chocolate for a snack – starts the week off right.3 years ago

  • Stephanie: Love this! Parks and Rec is hilarious, and that “treat yo’self” bit was just too much fun. I think I will treat myself to yoga this weekend, some pumpkin carving time and some reading before bed this week. Thanks for the reminder!3 years ago

  • BethP, LOVE that you shared some treat yo’self inspiration!

Cadi, I guess sometimes we just love sight of the importance of caring for ourselves, but when we remember I find that it becomes a super solid foundation for everything else in life. Don’t delay on your treat this week, and I hope you hit a patch of smooth sailing soon.

AmyC, Chocolate pudding and Parks and Recreation-inspired smiles! Alright! :)

Katie, There is something about a Monday treat that does seem to set a good tone for the rest of the week, doesn’t it? My treat was eating some dark chocolate and watching an old episode of Roseanne (love that show!).

Stephanie, Pumpkin carving, reading in bed, and yoga! That sounds so cozy and fall. Love it.3 years ago

  • geek+nerd: Umm – I have never seen Parks and Recreation, and based solely upon that clip I think I need to change that…immediately. Outstanding!3 years ago
