and what’s got you excited in this cold, dark month of february?

Lauren @ Eater not a runner: That the days are getting longer, it finally isn’t pitch-black when I get out of work anymore!1 year ago
Sarah F: Ravelry’s Ravelympics begin the weekend- and all the knitting I will accomplish watching figure-skating!1 year ago
Jane: Going on a trip with my mom next week and staying at a fancy hotel!1 year ago
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday: the olympics!1 year ago
Suzy: Going to Hilton Head in two weeks! (The two-day drive I am not so jazzed about, however.)1 year ago
Rebecca: I’d like to echo Lauren’s comment about the days getting longer, and I’m definitely psyched about the Olympics too! I’m also excited it’s February because in a few weeks it’s March, which means springtime isn’t long after, which means we’re getting towards summer. (Hey, I take my ups where I can find them, haha.) Ultimately, I view February as a transition month that gets me closer to warm weather.

Crystal: My beloved Saints finally rewarding all those years of frustrating fandom! The Olympics. My new Kindle (when I can pry it away from my husband!) And finding blogs that speak to all varied and divergent aspects of my personality. Thanks Sarah!1 year ago
Erin: My birthday tomorrow!!!

Christine H.: The Olympics, of course! Also, I’m going with a girlfriend to the ballet this Saturday—I needed something to look forward to in order to get through this horrid week! Other than that, I have a stack of library books to finish and another dozen or so on hold waiting for me to take them home.1 year ago
Lindsay M.: “Exuberance” was one of the most fun books I’ve read! I had the pleasure of meeting K. Redfield-Jamison when she came to my university a few years back to talk about “An Unquiet Mind.” She is such an interesting person and I appreciate her articulation on the simultaneous joys and distractions of having a slightly different cerebral chemical compostion!1 year ago
KBG in DC: Being stranded during the Snowpacolypse – in California!1 year ago
evon tameca: I’m happy about Valentines Day being just around the corner, with a lovely champagne brunch to add to the festivities, for a beau that’s sweet enough to have me drive his truck to work in this terrible snow, for the prospect of being snowed in with a pot of spaghetti and the new Harry Potter movie, and for the new book I’m reading.1 year ago
Anna: Coming home to a warm apartment and snuggling with the cat! And tea and good books.
May I ask how/where you found your bookclub? I’m also a NYCer, and I’ve been looking for one for a while.1 year ago
rachael: What a great book! I love it when people put more emphasis on positive things. I will read it.1 year ago
Michelle: Making valentines with my kindergarten class, a week’s vacation, a stack of new books, “winter” weather in southern Cali, some DIY projects around the apartment that I have a good feeling about, an incredible pair of hanging lamps found on Ebay that are on their way…and my love to keep me warm.1 year ago
Sara Rose: -Knitting my very first baby blanket!
-Getting a job!
-My Snuggie
-Hand made Valentines
-VALENTINE’S DAY!
-Making carbonara and tiramisu (HELLLLLOOOO GLUTTINOUS) for Vday.
-That Eva made me paint my toe nails alternating shades of pink and red.
-Doing origami with Nolan as “couple time”.
-The huge yarn sale I stumbled into yesterday at Michaels and came out with seriously 25 skeins. Nolan’s eyes bugged out.
-The fact that when my dear friend Tim heard I got the writing job, he bought me my very FIRST bottle of Veuve Clicquot!1 year ago
james: I have that same cookbook! so many fond memories for cooking from it for christmas dinners (the porkloin and braised red cabbage)1 year ago
I’ve never actually cooked recipes from that cookbook (except those open-faced sandwiches), but I love the writing in it and the way the describe the food culture of scandinavia. That cover, though — it’s a doozy!1 year ago
