brussels sprouts

my favorite holiday
and you?

Suzy: That dress is stunning! And only one dollar sign! (Though at Kleinfeld’s that probably still equates to two grand…)1 year ago
Ann: Sarah, you’re just adorable! I love that photo of Obama. Swoon. I’m so excited for brussel sprouts to come back too! Thanks for introducing me to the deco file - I’ve been meaning to pour through all my old dominos for inspiration as I move into a new apartment, but the idea is daunting.1 year ago
sarah: Suzy, I know. Those wedding dresses are such a racket. With any luck, I’ll wind up with something vintage.
Ann, my deco file definitely makes that process a little less terrifying because you can see in one place all these images that you love. it helps you to see themes. Congrats on the new apartment — what a fun project!1 year ago
Maggie: I love love love brussels sprouts1 year ago
Faith: That dress is beautiful! One of the many bridesmaid dresses I’ve worn in the past year was a Jim Hjelm. I’m so excited you’re dress shopping. I will definitely need to hear more about that.

Alison: I have to confess, it’s the tiniest bit creepy to me how much I identify with this list! I just introduced a very reluctant friend to brussel sprouts. they are clearly the best vegetable. Though, pumpkin is a pretty close second.1 year ago
DD: I just discovered Domino mag and I’m obsessed! And who doesn’t love that guy?!1 year ago
Kristina: Congratulations as far as an upcoming wedding goes! I hope you can strike a balance between affordability and sha-zam perfection.
And I’m really, really happy about Obama, too.1 year ago
EB: Fabulous roundup! You would look stunning in that dress by the way. Sebastian is a very lucky boy.1 year ago
sarah: Faith, I will try to have wedding updates here in a non obnoxious manner, including dresses, bien sur.
Alison, As Anne of Green Gables would say, it must mean that was are kindred spirits and bosom friends and all that. Although this list is so random I’m delightfully shocked it is relateable!
DD, It is definitely a fun read, agreed!
Kristina, Ah, that is certainly the challenge (and the goal). There’s so much pressure around weddings to be perfect, but I just want it to be really “us.” BTW, I promise this won’t turn into a wedding blog.
EB, Anytime you want to remind him of that, you are more than welcome!

Ruth: It warms my heart to think of you planning for your wedding. Will you share more with us? And for someone who agrees with your love for good company and cooking from scratch–Thanksgiving is the best.1 year ago
sarah: Ruth, I will share more as I go along without turning this into a wedding blog. I LOVE thanksgiving — all the fun family stuff of Christmas without the hassle of presents. (PS I wrote this long, thoughtful response to your comment about being “intentional” last week, but then the computer ate it, and i just could not bring myself to type it again. But I’m totally with you on the deliberate living front.)1 year ago
Haley: I am obsessed with Domino mag! And please buy that dress! It is gorgeous!!1 year ago
Cordelia: I find it funny that we can’t help but want more wedding details! But, you know, this isn’t a wedding blog :).
I’m happy about Sarah Vowell’s new book, new episodes of 30 Rock, and anything with pumpkin in it.1 year ago
vanessa: Brussel sprouts are so awesome right now. I blogged about them a few days ago and have been seeing them all over. I love the brussel sprout love.
And of course, Obama =)1 year ago
Rebecca Faulkner: I just got married in June, and I have a dress recommendation: get one custom made by a local seamstress! You support an independent crafter, AND your dress will fit like a glove! The original dress I wanted looks just like the one pictured above (is that an Amy Michelson)? I eventually decided I wanted a short ’50’s ballgown like Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. Sadly it’s nearly impossible to find one off the rack that’s new for less than 2K. So, I had it made! It was less than $300 after all was said and done!

Joyce: You couldn’t have described life these glorious days any better! I am going to run right out and get some organic brussel spouts and sautee in garlic and olive oil - one of natures best foods for breast health.
And then there’s Obama…1 year ago
Avril: Hey girl!!!
Im not enjoying November thus far owing to the extremely horrid hot weather we’re having
However, I am very excited about December LOL since we have an upcoming family reunion. And Christmas always makes everything alright
Hope you’re doing well!1 year ago
An upcoming wedding, eh! Ahh exciting times these
Sasha: And just why would you go wedding dress shopping at all after you’ve found that beauty to post? Get it! Get that one!1 year ago
Gina: I love these lists you make. They really remind me to be greatful for things in MY life as well. Right now I am greatful for goat’s milk cheddar, finally having my own apartment in a wonderful neighbourhood and beginning to choose Christmas gifts for my loved ones!1 year ago
Sarah: Rebecca, That picture is the best!
Avril, Hang in there with the hot weather. Maybe best not to fight it and have a tropical cocktail?
Sasha, I love your enthusiasm. It’s positively infectious.
Gina, Goat’s milk cheddar sounds divine, and there’s nothing like having your own place that you love. Congrats!1 year ago
Mae: I haven’t posted before, but I’ve been reading for a while.
And I must say, your blog makes me crave foods. haha. Apple cider, doughnuts, pumpkin pie, wonderful brussel sprouts!!! WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END!?
But I adore it all, and your photos are always so lovely. Thank you for a little bit of daily inspiration!1 year ago
Joy: I’m so glad you are back! It looks like I have lots of your posts to catch up on too - yay. Roll on hometime so I can enjoy it all in full screen rather than writing this with the web page minimised to near non-existence in the bottom right corner. I’ve missed your writing.1 year ago
radish: OMG i stopped reading like all blogs - did you get engaged?? Oh that’s great. Sorry if i am like the last human to know. This is great. Btw, the deco file — i can’t wait to play with mine — i had no idea. i have SO many cut outs from them… this is great. Congats on getting engaged!!1 year ago
sarah: Radish, You aren’t the last human to know I’m engaged. It’s just that I’ve been engaged for forty billion years without planning a single wedding-related thing, that it would be easy to not know.1 year ago
