I love that book. I think I will just have to get it. So cute. As for what I'm happy about this month so far?

Pumpkins! Yes, how could I miss that! It's funny, it's as cold in NY now as it was in SF in July! :)

Bikerides in the crisp fall air, apple cider donuts at the farmer's market and the hope that I can impulsively rent a car and drive up north to see the foliage!

Alicia, are you and I the same person? That car rental impulse is top of mind for me! Where do you ride your bike? I'm scared of getting hit.
EH, Tights with boots -- hell yeah! And I broke out the red clogs and wool socks today, too. (PS I still don't want the tomatoes to end.)

In October, I am giving thanks for:
Crisp air and red leaves in Segovia, Spain
Decadent Royal Palaces
The Backyardigans
Red scarves
Zucchini bread
Keen running shoes
Late Nights on Air by Elizabeth Hay
Canadian Thanksgiving (it's in October!)

That Obama embroidery is out of this world awesome.
I just took a cheesemaking class tonight - that makes me very happy :)

Here's why I LOVE October so much :)
Our birthdays are next week!!! (YYAYY)
That means a joint birthday celebration that brings practically all our closest friends and family together :)
And then of course from now itself, my mind has already started to make the shift towards Christmas! For me that means 3 whole months of bliss LOL
I like the break from the monsoon weather and how beautiful the garden looks.
Its also festival season here in India (Diwali is coming up), so everything will be bright, beautiful and sparkly.
And this October may be extra special with J and me both going back to full-time work, a lil bit of study, and hopefully a trip!
I am so grateful for what is!

In October, I absolutely love:
Fall foliage
Long walks in parks
Crisp evenings/crisp mornings
Hot apple cider
Anything pumpkin!
Outdoor fires
Snuggling
Baking again without heating my time space too much!

Hahaha. I think we ARE the same person. (Also, I wish it had been ME who had written that book, "The Gentle Art of Domesticity."
I ride EVERYWHERE. Seriously. All 5 boroughs, everywhere. I love the greenways, the bridges, but I'll do any "urban" streets. I usually have destinations (museums, shops, restaurants, etc.) in mind.
I pretty much think about renting a car at least once a week and fleeing! Sometimes I actually do it. :) "Quixotic" is my favorite word...also recently tattooed on my back. That pretty much sums me up!

I love that book! I treated myself to the British edition (available here in Canada months ago) on my birthday back in May. I wish I had written it, too!
This year, more than ever, I have really been noticing the colours of individual leaves. They are all so, so beautiful--are they more vibrant this year, or am I simply more attuned to them? I've been crouching down and picking them up off the ground everywhere I go...like a crazy person (or maybe just a really enthusiastic 5-year-old).

I love that green plaid bag.
I'm looking forward to:
The fall smell
Football tailgates
Cuddling under blankets
Halloween
Tall boots
Jackets
My new cloche hat

I love reading everyone's lists! It's like remembering oodles of other fabulous fall things I hadn't thought of. Clearly, we need to do more posts like this one. :)

-My birthday is on the 24th!
-"Just right" walking weather
-scarves
-briskly walking with my hands in my pockets
And now I've got this little trip to NYC to look forward to. My cousin is getting married on Sunday and I fly in on Friday! So exciting!
Can anyone suggest a good restaurant within walking distance of the Broadway Hotel & Hostel? I would be greatly indebted to you...

I know just what you mean about walking with your hands in your pockets, Franny. Do you know where the hotel is? That might help people recommend a restaurant.
