The Berry Best Breakfast #2

Most often I want something savory in the mornings, but for the days that I don't, I want this. I would not deign to call this a recipe, of course, but this bowl of berries has been making me so happy in the morning, I had to share. The flavors are fresh, vibrant, and summery, and I'm left feeling light and energetic until lunch time. And all this time I thought one needed to fill up on eggs to have a full tummy until the midday meal.
There's nothing mysterious in my methodology: I rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries and gently shake the clinging water droplets off. Then I quarter the hulkingest of the strawberries and plop them in the bowl first, followed by the blueberries and the blackberries (you probably don't need me to tell you that raspberries are also divine). Top that with a dollop of the rich tasting but nonfat Greek yogurt (love that tang against the sweetness of the berries), and then sprinkle on a small handful of granola. This is such a sunny, happy breakfast, and makes me think for just a few moments in the morning that everything might go my way today.

i had this exact breakfast yesterday morning. one reason why i like it best during summertime? because if you're lucky enough to have a farmer's market, your fruit can be still-warm from the sun and totally in season. yum!

This is totally one of my favorite breakfasts! And also very close to what I ate for dinner last night. :)
My less Sarah-ized version is yogurt, dried fruit, and whatever cereal's in the house, but when I actually have fresh berries and granola? I am all over this.

Miquette, Yeah, that's basically like eating sunshine -- awesome!
Kate, When it comes to dried fruit, I have a guilty love of prunes. Bet they'd be really good in that yogurt-cereal breakfast/dinner of yours. :)

Man, everyone keeps talking about this Greek yogurt. I'm going to have to track down some.

I would have this bfast every single day if I wasn't so lazy in the morning.
I know...I know what you're thinking....there's NO COOKING INVOLVED!! But I just don't function well enough in the AM to handle sharp knives to cut strawberries.

PQ, Yes, you must! The fat free version tastes so decadent -- and yet it's not!
Steamy, I hear you loud and clear. I'm a major sleepyhead. That's why sometimes I put this together the night before. Give it a try.

One of my all-time favorite petit dejeuner already!! One question: what kind of granola do you find best? I am having trouble hunting down the perfect one, and the one in your pic looks sooo delish!

Sarahfaith, Honestly, I have had trouble hunting down a granola worth swooning over, myself. But the one in the picture is Date Almond Granola from Healthy Valley.

This is one of my very favorite breakfasts. I had it yesterday! I like to sweeten my Greek yogurt with some Splenda, though. YUMMY!
